BEACH-HOUSE

ECO Friendly Pearl Birdhouse

Pearl Buttons come from either fresh water mussels or ocean shells such as: abalone, green snail, oyster, and conch...

Once man, bird, or predator has consumed the "meat" inside the shell, it is soaked from three to five days to make it pliable enough to drill circles in the shell to make buttons...

The remaining pieces of the shell can be ground up and used as fertilizer...

This BEACH-HOUSE is covered with 700 pearl buttons... All the button colors are natural, showing the different types of shell...

If a button has a beautiful luster, or nacre, it is pearl or ocean shell... Fresh water mussels, usually seen as small shirt buttons, do not have the same luster...
